FAQ
1. What are your weekend services like?
We believe you’ll find City Community Church to be an incredibly welcoming and creative environment, each week an unpredictable adventure into the heartbeat of God. We’re not here to entertain you or just help you check the church attendance obligation off your weekly to-do list. Just connecting to a church service won’t transform your life, but personally connecting to God will. We desire to use our weekly gatherings to catapult you back into daily life, personally pursuing God and His incredible and specific design for your future.
Our services will be full of imagination, creativity, great music, and real challenges for real life. At City Community Church you’ll find a place that accepts you for who you are, but challenges you to become all God created you to be.
2. What do I wear to attend your weekend service?
Clothes. Seriously, that’s the only requirement. We don’t have a dress code, so wear whatever you’re comfortable in…just come dressed. Please.
3. What about my children?
City Kids is a wonderful place to bring your children. We don’t just babysit, we challenge your kids to explore and grow into the fullness of who God created them to be. Your kids will meet lots of new friends, learn about God’s amazing design for their lives, and develop a passion for this city and the world that will carry them into a purposeful adulthood. Our team is staffed by an amazing group of volunteer leaders who will invest themselves fully into the lives of your children.
4. How can I meet others and get connected?
The weekend gathering is only phase one of the City Community Church launch. We plan to begin “beta testing” relational or community small groups and classes as early as this summer. Look for a complete lineup of opportunities to connect more deeply with others this fall. But don’t wait on us! Introduce yourself and connect with others today!
5. Are you affiliated with any denomination?
City Community Church is a non-denominational church, but we are affiliated with an incredible organization called ARC (Association of Related Churches). The ARC not only has a vision to plant 2000 churches by the year 2020, but also functions as a dynamic network of like-minded spiritual leaders seeking to bring the truth of God to a new generation. While this organization does not require a specific set of doctrinal beliefs or standards, it does provide relationships and accountability that help strengthen City Community Church.
6. Do you have plans for a permanent building?
We believe that the church is the people, not the facility. We want to bring the church to the city, not just expect the city to come to us. Renting a facility not only allows us to focus our resources on interacting with Indianapolis, it also serves as a constant reminder that we don’t go to church, we are the church.
7. Will I be asked to give money?
No. The Bible says God loves a cheerful giver, not a pressured one. We firmly believe God desires us to live a generous, open-handed life, but we want City Community Church to be known more for what we invest in others than for what we ask others to invest in us.
8. What differentiates City Community Church from other churches in Indianapolis?
We hope you will find us to be a community of believers passionate about making Christ accessible to humanity. Our desire is to do everything humanly possible to present the truth of God in a way that everyone can understand and connect with. When Jesus spoke to the crowds on the hillsides, he used stories and illustrations that spoke new life in terms familiar and easily understandable to all who heard. He was practical. He was accessible. We want to be, too.
But more than anything else, we want to be a church that interacts with the city. It’s time for the people of God to re-awaken to the world around them, to become the authentic expression of limitless love of Christ, to be broken for the things that break the heart of God. We hope City Community Church is known for being the hands and feet of Christ in Indianapolis and beyond.
